When To Have Your Tea Party

A Thankful Tea Party is usually held during the Thanksgiving season (but can be done anytime during the year) as a way to fellowship with your friends and focus on being thankful for all that you have.  All while you enjoy dainty food, tea, and company of great friends! I mean, what could be better right?

A Thankful Tea Party works great for a group of moms while the kids are at school or better yet, during nap time, or during a special time when all the dads can babysit!  You can also host a Thankful Tea for a Bible study group, as a way to say thank you to a group of amazing teachers or co-workers, at a senior citizens center for a group of residents, or even for a bridal or baby shower, etc.

The Only Game You Need

Keep reading and I’ll provide everything you need to host a Thankful Tea Party, including the only game you need, to have a great time! If you want to skip right to the game click here – FREE Printable Tea Time Q & A Game.

Like all my party ideas on Frugal Fun Mom, a Thankful Tea Party is done on a budget without sacrificing any of the fun or significance.

When I hosted a Thankful Tea Party a few years ago, it was for my Bible Study Group.  We enjoyed such great fellowship together during our weekly Bible Study that I wanted to continue the fun by having them all to my house to enjoy a fun tea party.  So, that’s just what I did!  You can host a really special Thankful Tea Party too, and you don’t have to spend a fortune to do it!

How to Host A Thankful Tea Party:

Plan A Guest List And Pick A Date

Write out your guest list of moms you want to invite to your Thankful Tea Party (maybe from a Bible Study group, your best mom friends, friends from church, friends from you neighborhood, friends from your kids’ school, etc.). You also need to pick a date for your tea party and allow a couple hours for the party.

Get Crafty And Make Some Frugal Decorations

Glitter Pumpkins

Make some frugal fall decorations like glittered pumpkins and pine cones. These are simple, just buy some fresh, small table pumpkins and gourds.  Head outside to collect some pine cones. Using Mod Podge, paint the sides of your pumpkins, gourds, and pine cones and then shake on white glitter in various sizes from super fine to flakes.

Your pumpkins, gourds, and pine cones will look amazing and glittery, and still show the object beneath the glitter!  This is a great way to take an ordinary object and make it festive without spending a lot of money on fancy decor items.

Gather Necessary Supplies

Gather tea cups, saucers and pretty serving dishes that are fine china (if possible).  If you don’t have a bunch of tea cups (that’s ok!!!), ask your friends if they do!  Or maybe you have a neighbor that might have tea cups you can borrow. Ask around – there is no need to buy them new!

If all else fails, try looking at a local thrift shop and see if you can find some very inexpensive tea cups to use.  I’ll be honest, I’ve been collecting tea cups and saucers for years, so I have quite the collection of them.

Ask Your Friends & Neighbors For Help

You can also ask friends and neighbors for help. I know a lot of ladies from church, and even a neighbor of mine who have a collection of tea cups, and were more than happy to let me use them if I needed an extra.  You’d be surprised just how many of your mom friends have tea cup collections, and would be more than happy to let you borrow for a day.  Just ask!

You can also ask your guests to bring their own tea cup and saucer. Which would be really fun! One tea party I attended, everyone brought a tea cup and saucer and placed them on the table.

Before the tea party began, we all drew a number. Starting with number 1, you were to choose the tea cup and saucer you wanted to use for the party. In the end we all went home with the tea cup we chose! It was really fun.

Make sure to explain this ahead of time to your guests so they don’t bring a family heirloom with them and not return home with it!

Have Your Guest Bring Food To Share

Ask your friends to bring a side dish to enjoy – to help keep costs down for your Thankful Tea Party. Click To Tweet

You don’t need to provide all the food yourself. Not only is this a lot of work, but it can also get expensive! Ask your guests to bring a dainty side dish to share!  Tell them to think along the lines of a tea party – tea sandwiches, scones, delicate cookies, etc.  Provide recipe ideas if necessary!  Tell your guests to look on Pinterest for inspiration – there are so many great ideas on there!
