Creative Ways To Play With Playdough
We all know that kids love to play with playdough. All you have to do is set out some tools and dull utensils and they can play for hours. While there is nothing wrong with playing with playdough this way, there are a few other ways to play with playdough that you might not have thought of, that I’d like to share with you.
1. Play Sculpt’em
If your kids are a little older, this is a great way to keep them entertained while playing with playdough. My kids are now in their teens and it’s a lot harder to set a ball of dough in front of them and tell them to have fun playing. But, as soon as I get out Sculpt’em they love it!
Sculpt’em is a lot like Pictonary, except rather than draw a picture, you sculpt things out of playdough. It’s even more fun when you play in teams. Lucky for you, our Valentine Party Bundle includes Valentine Sculpt’em, and our Easter Party Bundle also includes Easter Sculpt’em. Do yourself a huge favor, snag both of these products right now!
2. Wait-For-Everyone-To-Arrive Party Activity
You know that 20 minutes of lag time at the beginning of every party when you are waiting for guests to arrive? There are always those guest who arrive early, then a few who arrive right on time, and then a few more who are late, and then there is always that one guest who arrives really late.
You need something to do during this time to keep your guests occupied, but you aren’t ready to actually start the real party yet. The perfect solution is to get out the playdough and let guests create whatever your party theme is.
If you are having a dinosaur party, tell your guests to make their best dinosaur out of playdough. Not only will this keep their little hands busy, it will ease the minds of any guests who are feeling a little uneasy about being at a party. It will also get your guests in the mood for a party!
3. Party Theme
If you have a child that already loves playdough, why not use playdough as a theme for their birthday party? Create your entire party around a playdough theme.
Your color scheme can just be bright vibrant colors like blue, red, orange and purple. Your decorations can be bright colored steamers and balloons.
One of the main activities of the party can be to make Koolaid playdough and then play Sculpt’em with your party guests. And you can serve super cute cupcakes with bright colored frosting and sprinkles and then send each guest home with some of the playdough they made.

4. Homemade Ornaments
Using your playdough, cut out shapes with cookie cutters and bake them on a cookie sheet in a 170 degree oven for 4 hours to make ornaments. Make sure you use a straw to cut out a hole in each ornament before baking so you have room to add a string. Also, make sure your dough is at least ½ inch thick so it won’t break easily.
Awesome Playdough Ideas
There you have it! 4 fantastic ideas of ways to use playdough that I’ll bet you never thought of. I challenge you to make some of these playdough recipes and then enjoy playing with the dough in these non-traditional ways I’ve listed above.
