5 Spring Birthday Party Theme Ideas
- Birdie Birdie
- Garden Party
- Easter Party
- Chalk Art Party
- Cupcake Party
1. Birdie Birdie Spring Birthday Party Theme
Let’s start with one of my favorite Spring birthday party theme ideas – our Birdie Birdie party! If you have a child that loves birds, this birthday party is perfect for them!
Our Birdie Birdie party will be focused on cute little birds and will include some festive food, games and decorations that make this party easy and fun for you to host.
Birdie Birdie Birthday Party Food
Serve a few snacks like sunflower seeds and gummy worms, which you can refer to as “bird food.” Remember, if you host your party at a non-mealtime you don’t have to worry about providing very much food. Just serve light snacks and cake and you are good!
For drinks, don’t worry about offering a bunch of choices – just pick one drink to serve, and serve your drinks from a big drink dispenser. Read this post, Cheap Birthday Party Drink Ideas For Kids, for some more ideas on how to save money on party drinks, plus it includes a great drink recipe!
Birdie Birdie Birthday Decorations
Your color scheme can be blue, orange, red, and yellow – like bright and colorful birds. Hang streamers and blow-up balloons in these colors. Pick up a red plastic tablecloth and choose plates, cups, napkins, and utensils in the other bright colors.
You don’t need to buy decorations with birds all over them – just go for solid colors. Trust me, they are easier to find and will be much cheaper than patterned ones.
Finally, hang a bright colored Happy Birthday banner in your main party room. You can snag a perfect Happy Birthday banner that is filled with bright colors in our Instant Party Toolkit.
If you feel up to it, print off some bright colored birds you find on Google, mount them on red or yellow poster board and hang on the walls in your main party room.
Birdie Birdie Birthday Party Games & Activities
The games and activities will be the best part about this party! There are so many fun activities you can play at a Birdie Birdie Spring birthday party. The first one you can do is make Cookie Cutter Bird Feeders. Then you can also make Homemade Bird Houses.
If you still have time after both of those, consider playing Pin the Tail on the Birdie. Just like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, you simply need to print out a bird, as big as you can on paper. Then print out a bunch of bird tail feathers.
Cut out the tail feathers and give one to each guest with tape on the back. Blindfold and spin each guest around a few times and then set them loose to try to pin their tail feathers on the bird.
Birdie Birdie Party Birthday Cake Idea
Make Bird Nest Cupcakes – you can see a video showing exactly how to make these here. Trust me, these sounds much more complicated than they really are.
All you need to do is make the birthday child’s favorite cupcakes. Frost them with white frosting (you don’t have to do anything fancy with the frosting, because you only need the frosting to hold a mini powdered donut.
After you add a dollop of white frosting to your cupcake, add a mini white powdered donut. Then add a little frosting to the top of the powdered donut and sprinkle on some jellybean eggs to give the look of a bird nest! So cute, simple, and easy to make! You can even enlist your kids in helping you with them!
You can make a few variations of these cupcakes by using toasted coconut to sprinkle on the donut for the next, or you can simply pipe a ring on the top of the cupcake to be a nest and forget the donut altogether. It’s up to you! If you need some ideas, jump on my Pinterest cake board.
Birdie Birdie Birthday Party Goody Bags
Give your guests a small bag of gummy worms with a little note on top that says, “Thanks for worming your way to my party!” You can also include a few of the homemade bird feeders, as well as their bird house each guest made.
Let’s move on to our next Spring birthday party theme idea, our Garden Party!
2. Garden Party
Our second Spring birthday party theme ideas is our Garden Party and you and your kids are just going to love this party idea!
Our Garden Party will focus on flowers and gardening and is perfect for the child who loves to get their hands dirty and grow stuff! You’ll love the simple garden activities and food too!
Garden Party Food Ideas
You can serve chocolate pudding cups sprinkled with crushed Oreo cookies to look like dirt cups and make sure to add a gummy worm sticking out the top. Also, a bowl of gummy worms and Cheeto Puffs which you can refer to as Puffy Caterpillars. Then offer flavored water to drink – here is a great recipe.
Garden Birthday Party Decorations
Garden colors would be green, purple, pink, and blue. Keep your decorations easy for you by hanging steamers and balloons in coordinating colors. Then keep your plates, cups, and utensils in solid matching colors as well.
Hang a simple Happy Birthday banner in matching colors. You can snag a perfect Happy Birthday banner that is filled with bright colors in our Instant Party Toolkit.
If, and only if you have the time, you can make tissue paper flowers as well and hang them around your party room. My friend, Cori, at Hey, Let’s Make Stuff, has an a fantastic tutorial on how to make tissue paper flowers you can find here.
Garden Party Games & Activities
Stick to flower and gardening themed games and activities. You can start by painting flowerpots. Give each guest a terra cotta flowerpot and let them paint and decorate them. While they dry, play Pin the Petal on the Flower.
Print out a very large flower. Give each guest a cut out flower petal with tape on the back and after you spin them up and blindfold them, have them try to pin the petal on the flower.
Next you can plant some seeds in your newly painted flowerpots. All you need to do is supply some potting soil and sunflower seeds.
Finally, you can make flower stakes out of oversized popsicle sticks. Have your guest decorate a stick as a label for their newly planted seeds. For example, if you just planted a Daisy seed, have your guests write the word DAISY on the flower stake and paint the stick how they want.
Garden Party Birthday Cake Ideas
Make sunflower cupcakes, and I promise they are not as hard as they sound. All you need to do is make your favorite flavor of cupcakes. Then using yellow frosting and petal tip, pipe petals in a circle around the outside of the cupcake. Then, fill the center with chocolate chips. Done, and they are so cute too! You can find ideas for these cupcakes on my Birthday Cake Ideas Pinterest Board.
Spring Garden Birthday Party Goody Bags For Guests
Goody bags for this party are very simple, in fact, you don’t have to buy anything extra, just give each guest their painted flowerpot and garden stake to take home.
3. Easter Party
Easter parties are so much fun to host and the best part, you don’t have to have an upcoming birthday party in order to host an Easter party.
But, if you do have a child with an upcoming birthday anywhere near Easter, an Easter party is a great Spring birthday party theme idea to do! Trust me, you kid will love it too!
I always wished I would have a child with a spring birthday, but that didn’t happen! So, instead, my kids and I love to host a neighborhood Easter party for all the kids that live on our street and it’s a blast!
Easter Party Food To Serve
One fantastic snack to serve are Resurrection Rolls, and the best part about these rolls are that you can choose to turn making them into a party activity as well! But, you don’t have to if you’d prefer to make them ahead of time.
Just keep in mind, they are super easy to make, are fun for kids to make and they taste best if you serve them hot from the oven, which is why they not only make for a great snack, but also a great activity too. My friend, Erin, at Simple Purposeful Living has an excellent step-by-step recipe you can make here.
Another snack to serve are Annie’s Cheddar Bunnies – which are just like goldfish crackers, but bunny shaped. Then offer flavored water to drink – here is a great recipe.
Easter Party Decoration Ideas
Start by decorating with pastel colors like pink, blue, green, and orange. Hang steamers and balloons and buy paper plates and utensils in pastel colors as well. Then, hang a really cute Happy Easter banner in your main party room.
There is an adorable Happy Easter banner available in our Ultimate Easter Bundle, and there is also a set of adorable Easter themed cupcake toppers, invitations, thank you cards, and goody bag tags included as well.

You can find the Jellybean Playdough recipe and Sculpt’em cards in our Ultimate Easter Bundle.

4. Chalk Art Party
Our next Spring birthday party theme idea is an outdoor sidewalk chalk art party! When the weather warms up, it’s a great time to get outside and do some art with kids.
If you have a child that loves to draw with chalk, then they will love this party! And, I’m sure all your child’s friend’s will love it too!
Chalk Art Birthday Party Food Ideas
You don’t have to provide a lot here, because you will be very busy at this party and doing fun activities, and don’t need to spend a lot of time eating food. Serve your child’s favorite snacks like popcorn and pretzels. Then offer flavored water to drink – here is a great recipe.
Chalk Art Birthday Party Decorations
Choose bright colors reminiscent of sidewalk chalk like bright pink, purple, orange and green. Then, hang streamers and balloons and buy matching solid colored paper products.
Hang a Happy Birthday banner as well – again, you can find a cute one in our Instant Party Toolkit. The best part about this Toolkit is that it’s printable, which means you can reuse it for any party you have.
Remember, you only need to decorate one room – the main room where you will host your party – you do not need to decorate your entire house.
Chalk Art Party Games & Activities
Your two main activities for this Spring birthday party theme idea will be to make homemade sidewalk chalk, and to make sidewalk chalk mosaics. This party works best if you host it when it’s nice enough outside to spend the majority of the party doing fun outdoor activities.
You can learn how to make homemade sidewalk chalk by reading this post, How To Make Homemade Sidewalk Chalk. Keep in mind that homemade sidewalk chalk takes a few days to fully dry, so while you can make the chalk at the party, you’ll need to save it and hand it out a few days later to all your guests to keep.
Make some ahead of time so you can use it at the party, or buy some Crayola chalk to use. The only supplies you need for Chalk Mosaics is masking tape. You can read all about how to make Chalk Mosaics here. They are so much fun to make! Make sure you have a camera handy, as your guests will love to have photos of the mosaics they make.
If you’d like to do a few other inside activities, then consider finding a printable Birthday BINGO and Pin The Candle On the Cupcake. Great news, if you don’t feel like hunting all over Pinterest for other printable birthday games, there are some fantastic ones in my Instant Party Toolkit that you can snag right now!
Chalk Art Birthday Cake Ideas
For this party, go ahead and make a boxed cake that is your child’s favorite flavor and bake in a rectangular 9x13in pan. Without removing the cake from the pan, frost the cake with a knife by spreading it on the top. Add multi-colored sprinkles to the top and you are set! Simple, cute, and festive!
Chalk Art Party Goody Bags
Give your guests some of the homemade chalk that you either made ahead of time, or that you will hand out a few days after the party once the chalk you made dries completely. Or, you can give guests some purchased chalk too, along with some candy!
5. Cupcake Party
For this Spring birthday party theme, your guests will enjoy decorating and sampling cupcakes. This party is perfect for the aspiring baker who doesn’t mind getting a little messy!
Cupcake Party Food to Serve
Serve some salty snacks like cheese and crackers because the majority of your party will have you around cupcakes, frosting, and sugary toppings! Don’t forget to serve our flavored water to drink – here is a great recipe.
Cupcake Party Decorations
Pick bright colors that your birthday child would enjoy like purple, green, and pink. Hang a super fun birthday banner, and if you don’t have one, you can find a brightly colored one included in our Instant Party Toolkit. You can also hang streamers and balloons in matching colors.
Cupcake Birthday Party Games & Activities
Your main activity for this party will be to decorate cupcakes. I’d suggest baking a bunch of cupcakes ahead of time and give each guest 5-8 cupcakes to decorate.
All you need to do is provide a lot of frosting, sprinkles, jellybeans, and small candies for your guests to use to decorate their cupcakes.
If you enjoy decorating cupcakes yourself, then look on Pinterest for a few simple ones you can demonstrate for your guests and teach them how to make their own.
When your guests finish decorating their cupcakes you can play Pin the Candle on the Cupcake and Birthday Bingo. Both games are included in our Instant Party Toolkit.
Cupcake Birthday Party Cake Ideas
To keep things simple, have your guests choose one of their decorated cupcakes to enjoy as the cake. You can even stick a candle in the birthday child’s cupcake and sing Happy Birthday first. But, honestly, there’s no reason to make another cake on top of all the cupcakes – just keep it simple for you!
Cupcake Party Goody Bags
Give your guests a paper plate filled with their decorated cupcakes to take home as their goody bag!
And there you have it! 5 Spring birthday party theme ideas for kids that we know your child will love! Any of these theme ideas would be a blast to do and we can guarantee both your child and their friends will love it!
