- Use a coupon, discount, or take advantage of a free item, every time you go out for a meal.
- Shop around and gather quotes when pricing out dental and orthodontic procedures.
- Ask for a cash discount by paying in full up front, for medical or dental procedures.
- Negotiate and gain cash discounts on things you need done (refer your hair stylist and receive a cash discount on your next haircut, or refer your dentist and receive a referral check, etc)
- Check out books and movies from the library for free.
- Shop the grocery store sales ads and always use a list.
- Stay on top of your sales and coupons by using a coupon organization tool like my Daily Coupon Checklist, so you are always ready for a good deal.
- Go inside the grocery store to get the best deals on groceries and to find all the hidden sales – never use a grocery delivery service.
- Fill your pantry and stock up on things you regularly use, when they are on sale, or when they are at a rock-bottom price.
- Always use coupons at the grocery store on as many items as you can.
- Sign up for your grocery store sales app on your phone and use it!
- Use the gas discount at the pump that you earn from shopping at your local grocery store!
- Gather, clip, sort, and file your coupons regularly so you are always ready to find a good deal at the grocery store.
- Clip and carry around restaurant coupons so you are always ready for a discount when eating out.
- Use a cash system wallet to make sure you stay on track with your spending each month.
- Use cash for spending, and stop spending when the money is gone.
- Buy used clothes for you and your kids on VarageSale, Mercari, or at garage sales, a thrift store, or a consignment shop.
- Cut the cable cord and sign up for YouTube TV, Amazon TV, Hulu or Netflix instead.
- Stay away from fancy coffee shops and brew your own coffee at home.
- Cancel your gym membership and work out at home or outside with your kids.
- Cook at home! Try to limit how much you eat out.
- Shop from your own pantry and try to limit making extra trips to the grocery store each week.
- Have your kids pack their lunches for school, instead of buying hot lunch.
- Take advantage of free school lunch for your kids whenever it’s available.
- YouTube home repairs and fix stuff yourself!
- Shop around for a hair stylist – find one who offers a referral discount or does haircuts from their own home kitchen.
- Be a hair stylist for your kids! Do in-home haircuts for your kids and spouse. YouTube can help you learn how to do this.
- Shop around for a cheaper cell phone contract every two years.
- Use coupon savings apps like Fetch Rewards, and Ibotta every time you shop.
- Use cash back savings sites like Top Cash Back or Honey every time you buy online.
- Buy used cars.
- Use plastic food containers that you can wash and reuse, instead of plastic baggies you have to throw away.
- Ask your friends for help when you need to do something you don’t know how to do – such as home repairs, instead of hiring someone.
- Trade work with friends, such as you might clean their house and your friend might bake 4 dozen cookies for the school bake sale you don’t have time to do.
- Save up cash for most purchases, especially big ones – like a new-to-you car.
- Swap babysitting with friends.
- Ask for discounts, on just about everything, and haggle when you can.
- Make your own homemade cleaning supplies.
- Host your own at-home birthday parties for your kids.
- Always shop the clearance rack.
- Pack your own food and snacks anytime you are out or running errands with your kids, so you are not tempted to buy them a snack.
- Sign up for discounts at any place you and your family frequent a lot. Like your favorite restaurants, clothing stores, grocery stores, movie theater movie etc.
- Get free birthday deals and discounts by signing up for the newsletter at your favorite places. Then when your birthday rolls around you will get all sorts of free meals etc to enjoy.
- Stay with friends when you travel.
- Buy used sporting equipment for your kids because they grow out of stuff so fast.
- Volunteer your time to receive a discount.
- Carpool with your friends to drive kids to and from school and sports practices to save on gas.
- Leave items in your online cart for a day or two and see if you are offered a discount to move forward with your purchase.
- Repurpose old crafts and turn them into new crafts, rather than buy new supplies.
- Save money on flowers and vegetable gardens by starting your own seeds indoor with your kids.
- Shop from your own pantry.
- Eat your leftovers before making something new.
- Invest in an Instant Pot and Air Fryer and use them to make last minute meals when you are tempted to get takeout.
- Wash your car at home instead of using a car wash – get your kids to help.
- Wear your clothes a few days before washing them.
- Group your errands by location to save on gas.
- Throw 2 birthday parties on the same day for your kids, and share the decorations.
- Make frugal crafts for your kids instead of buying like Koolaid Playdough and Homemade Chalk.
- Make your own homemade birthday party supplies like the cake and the pinata.
- Always double dip your deals by using coupons and cash back grocery apps like Fetch Rewards, and Ibotta. Double dip online purchases when the item is on sale and also use a cash back savings site like Top Cash Back or Honey.
